Top Tier Opinions: Ask me anything!

So, this is going to sound rather cliche… but ask me anything!
I’ve been quite busy with life and haven’t posted in awhile, so let’s start it up again with this.
I’ll try to answer everything and update this thread at least once a day (depending on my schedule, I might not be able to, but that’s the goal).
The questions don’t have to be LoL-related, but a majority of them should be.
-MasteR of LoL (still haven’t changed my in game name back, so it’s still master of fknoob >.<)

What is your opinion of how the meta is evolving around team counter jungling. IE more team fights at the 7 min blue etc… as supposed to just the “old school” farm non stop and team fights just at dragon until mid game. The obvious answer is more fights = more entertainment but does this mean there is a major shift in power of champions? Will there be nerfs directly impacting a champions abilty to counter jungling.

This means that teams are more prone to picking stronger early mid game champions, to win these fights (either protecting their blue/red, or attempting to start fights at enemy blue/reds).
There may be further nerfs to these specific jungle champions (LS, skarner, udyr, rammus, etc) for this reason. Although they’ve already been nerfed quite a bit.

I have noticed my players using MF lately why do you think this is? And what would do you think could be changed about her to make her one of the top ad carry picks?

The recent Hextech Gunblade nerf, will it hit champions like Akali hard, or is just a small not-noticable change? How’s these spellvamp nerfs hurting hybrid champs (Will WoA be a alternative, as the pure AP casters may build this).

viability of Ahri after nerfs in your opinion?
Also, Chinese meta of strong early game any good here?
Iz replied on Feb 14th, 2012 at 9:09 am
why is ahri getting so many nerfs recently? is there something happening in higher elo play that’s making her seem OP? even in her recent showings in online tournaments she didn’t seem THAT strong, and her dmg seems to pale in comparison to other APs. WHY RIOT WHY?
MasteR of LoL replied on Feb 14th, 2012 at 1:20 pm
@Ya Man: Since Vayne and Graves got nerfed recently, there are more people playing MF. Honestly, I think if her passive had to be removed from a champion hit rather than neutral monsters/minions (similar to Teemo’s move-quick) that she’d be perfect (probably more on the OP side if anything).
@Dexi: I can’t give much insight on this, since I don’t really play hybrid champions nor build hextech revolver often. I believe the logic behind it is to prevent early sustain (especially on akali/vlad since they already have spellvamp/regen from spells) and to encourage upgrading the item quicker. I don’t think WoA will be that popular, since gunblade is still one of the most gold efficient items (it just gives stats that only hybrid champions can really use)
@crappyaim and Iz: I think Ahri’s still going to be viable. One of the main reasons for her nerfs is to drive her more towards utility and less from damage, since her ult grants 3 leaps, making it extremely hard to kill a good Ahri (unless you have tons of burst lined up, such as Annie).
As far as the early chinese meta goes, I’m not too sure what you’re talking about (sorry I haven’t payed much attention to the chinese meta), but it’s going to depend on the following: if the team with the better early game team can hold their advantage long enough to win. If the opposing team can defend long enough to the point where they’re stronger and they’re not down enough, they’ll win. But if it’s early game team comp vs early game team comp, the better early game team comp is going to win (since they’d both have rather bad late games).

What is your advice to someone who is below 1200 elo on trying to get above 1200 elo?

Hi I was wondering if I could get your opinion on Gold per 10 items and runes in general and specifically on junglers? Thanks in advance.
Johnpauljohnes replied on Feb 20th, 2012 at 9:32 pm
Why do you think they nerved Ryze the way they did? It was a small nerd but It’s weird that they would nerd him at all.

*nerf. typing on a mac(auto correct) lol

@DirtyD: Well, the first step would be making sure you know the basics of the game and can perform quite well at your current elo standing (if you’re unknowledgeable its a lot harder to magically gain elo). I’d advise being able to play at least 1 champion adequately for every role (in case you’re stuck playing something because you’re 4th/5th pick) and then focus on one specific role (whichever is your favorite) getting good at that, and gaining elo that way. If elo is all you’re concerned about, mid>jungle>top>bot. If you’re good at mid lane (mostly casters) and can dominate at that position, it’s the easiest to climb elo with.
@Thisdude1: gp/10 items, runes, and masteries help support champions the most (since they get the least amount of farm in the current meta). Other champions it’s situational on. Generally, getting gp/10 on non-supports means you’re shooting more for late game, and not getting gp/10 would be focused more on early/mid and the beginning of late. On junglars specifically, it would depend on a) what gp/10 you’re getting b) the reason for it and c) if you’re upgrading it eventually. I’d get at most 2 gp10 if you’re not support, possibly 3 on someone like GP, but that’s about it. I’d be glad to answer a more specific question on the topic, but that’s the general answer.
@Johnpauljohnes: Ryze is one of the strongest caster’s early game, and one of the tankiest most consistent (dmg wise) late game. I’d assume the nerf to be to put his damage down a bit, especially since he’s among the more tanky casters.

One example for the gold per 10 is when I play katarina i often get a Kage’s pick this provides me with the damage I need to keep up with her weak early / mid game while still making some profit. Another example is when I pick a jungler like Shyvana (aggressive counter jungler) I run my gp/10 runes and usually pick up a heart of gold (and upgrade it late game) in-case some thing goes wrong while in enemy territory and I die at least I am still making gold via runes and item(s). Do you think that gp/10 is viable in those situations?
MasteR of LoL replied on Feb 23rd, 2012 at 5:59 pm
Since you’re going to use that stats regardless, it can be worth it.
A better way to look at it may be: 5 gold per 10 seconds = 30 gold per minute. 20 minutes = 600 extra gold. But Kage = 765g + selling it = ~380. So you’d gain essentially 220g over 20 minutes. It’s not very significant, but if you’re using the stat from the gold/10 item then it’s not bad. You could also buy a different mid tier item for kat, such as a revolver, instead.
